Situated 35 miles (56 km) North-West of Kota Kinabalu,it’s a remote tropical island paradise surrounded with white sandy beaches and crystal blue waters. It is a destination for those who want to relax in total tranquility and appreciates seafood. The waters off Mengalum known for its rich and diverse marine life is a renown deep sea fishing ground and a fishing location for the annual Sabah International Fishing Tournament, an off-shore fishing competition that promotes the sport and also aims to encourage conservation of marine resources.

The history of Mengalum Island has long been associated with voyaging of Ferdinand Magellan in Asian waters during 16th century. The link is tied to a large metal anchor located in the south- western corner of the island near the shoreline.

Mengalum Island is just under 1,000 acres and is in the form of an irregular circle. Part of the island of some 231.75 acres has being registered as government wildlife reserved for bird sanctuary. Mengalum Island is reach of tourism resources, which enable it to provide many varieties of both on-shore and off-shore activities, including deep sea game fishing, scuba and snorkel diving, beach combing, shallow and near shore water sports.

For those looking for a quiet retreat, wildlife safari in the lagoons and wetland areas, makes for an ideal holiday. The island is best suited for tourism, resort and leisure development principally due to its proximity to Sabah's principal international/ regional gateway.

Itinerary

1st Day
07:15am - Pickup from hotel.
08:00am - Depart from Tanjung Aru Jetty to Mengalum Island.
09:15am - Upon arrival, served with welcome drink and proceed to Sundeck Restaurant.
10:00am - Conduct safety briefing then proceed for 1st session boat snorkeling trip at selected coral reef.
11:00am - Transfer back to island and free at your own leisure.
12:00pm - Chalet check-in.
12:30pm - Lunch served at Sundeck Restaurant.
13:30pm - Start 2nd session snorkeling.
14:30pm - Return to island and free at leisure time.
17:45pm - Gather at Sundeck Point and wait for sunset view.
19:00pm - Dinner served at Sundeck Restaurant.
20:00pm - Overnight at Mengalum Island Resort.

2nd Day
07:30am - Enjoy breakfast at Sundeck Restaurant. Free and leisure time.
09:30am - Check out the room.
10:00am - Start 3rd session snorkeling.
11:00am - Transfer back to island and free at your own leisure.
12:30pm - Lunch served at Sundeck Restaurant.
13:30pm - Start 4th session snorkeling.
14:30pm - Transfer back to island and free at leisure time.
15:15pm - Get ready to return to Kota Kinabalu.
15:45pm - Depart from Mengalum Island.
16:00pm - Arrive at Jetty.
