The guest house, with its spacious and tranquil garden, is located 800 metres from the village (Vernet-les-Bains). It comprises:
- 2 large en-suite bedrooms, one with a bath ("Lilas") and the other with a shower ("Mimosa")
- 1 small en-suite bedroom with a shower ("Forsythia")
- 1 family suite consisting of 2 bedrooms and a bathroom ("Eucalyptus")
- 1 service room with refrigerator, washing machine, ironing board, etc
There is a private car parking area in the grounds of the house.
Breakfast can be served either in a sunlit room overlooking the swimming pool or outside, in the shade of a magnificent cherry tree.
Supper (for guests who have booked it in advance) is served every evening.
Views from the house of the surrounding hills and mountains are breathtaking - especially those of Canigou mountain (altitude 2785m, over 9,000ft), which rises directly in front of the property. La Grange Fleurie is an ideal base for exploring the Cady valley and all the surrounding countryside. There are many wonderful walks to enjoy and several interesting sites to visit (see www.walks.alanmattingly.eu).
The proprietors speak the following languages: English, Dutch and French.
Vernet-les-Bains is located in the heart of the eastern Pyrenees at an altitude of 650m (2,150ft). Its hot springs provide water for a centre that offers treatment and recuperation for people with rheumatic and respiratory conditions (Rudyard Kipling was here in 1911 when his wife visited the baths).
The centuries-old village sits at the foot of Canigou mountain in the Cady valley. It is in a relatively sheltered position and it enjoys a wonderful climate with around 300 days of sunshine each year. It has been designated as a "village arboretum", with over 2,000 trees (and more than 250 species of tree) in and around the village itself. The arboretum's website, www.villagearboretum.fr, offers detailed information (in French) about the site. There is also a geological museum with a remarkable collection of rocks, minerals and fossils. |

We have had a delightful stay in your lovely home, where you made us feel part of the family. The location is superb - the views on all sides are wonderful - it's totally quiet. We discovered at first hand that our hosts were highly experienced "superhosts" who provided us not only with magnificent meals but also with delightful hospitality.
