Railway Lodge Bed & Breakfast

BED AND BREAKFAST IN OUGHTERARD CONNEMARA LAKE -
This Lodge is an exceptional Bed and Breakfast country home, in the heart of Western Ireland's Connemara mountainous region. It takes its name from the nearby disused Galway to Clifden railway which closed in 1936. It was 60 years later, in 1996, that the Lodge was built for the proprietor, Carmel Geoghegan, on a plot within her family's farm. Her father Paddy bred the famous Connemara Ponies all his life as his father did before him.
The spacious interior of this carefully designed Bed and Breakfast has been exquisitely furnished to perfectly combine modern convenience with old Irish style. Each bedroom has modern en-suite facilities as well as orthopaedic beds. It also has a traditional relaxed ambiance with its two log fires contained in antique cast iron fireplaces, polished wooden floors, antique pine furniture and pure Irish linen.
Bed and Break has a wonderful sitting room and bright conservatory which are comfortable places to relax after traveling or to enjoy afternoon tea. Breakfast is also served here. The rear of the B&B looks out towards Connemara's Mountains and scenery from these windows is difficult to beat!

The traditional Irish welcome and service are the other exceptional quality of Bed and Breakfast. from Carmel's unbeatable Irish breakfasts and home-baked bread, freshly squeezed orange juice, organic home-mixtures of museli to the plush bedding and towels adorning each sunny room.
