French Riviera Var, Villa Vacation Home rentals direct by owner at 15 km from St Tropez - Direct and private access to the sea

Tao Tai is a large villa located at Cavalaire at the end of a rocky cap, with a private access directly down to the sea, and however close to town center.
Cavalaire is a seaside resort located at 15 km by car from Saint Tropez. It is known for its beautiful bay and its beach which is among the longest ones of the French riviera (the Provence landing in 1944 has occurred right there !). The town is quite developed now, which all possible facilities. On both side of its 4 km beach, there are two rocky caps: the Cap Lardier, which is part of Saint Tropez peninsula, is a green area with no house allowed; the Cap Cavalaire (on which our house is located) is twofold, our side being housed and the other one being so steep that it stays untouched.

Our charming and authentic family house has thus an outstanding location: you are facing the sea, with the view on those two wild caps and nothing else except boats and sea gulls. The access to the sea starts from the southbound terrace : a 90 steps rocky stair, equipped with a hand rail, leads you to a small jetty embedded in the rocks, where our grand father use to land his boat. You enter in the sea as you would do in a swimming pool: it is very easy and safe except in infrequent case of high waves. The jetty is also a very pleasant place for sunbathing, canoeing, windsurfing and playing with kids as it is fully protected against the Mistral (an quite unpleasant North wind which occurs sometimes). If you choose not to stay in our private access to the sea, you may alternatively go to one of the many beaches around which are reachable in a few minutes by car or even by foot (15 to 30 mn). This is specially useful if you have very young children which are feeling easy with water only on a beach.

The house (210 m2, 8 bedrooms) has a genuine cubist design with large high ceiling rooms, where there is always a nice breeze, even during hot summers. It is located in a large 1400 m2 garden with a barbecue, a beam with swings, a southbound terrace where you may play ping-pong or bowls (the regional sport !). You can park three cars in the private lane in front of the house.
A small detached flat in the rear of the house is inhabited by a couple of warden in the back of the house. They share the garden with you, but have an access to it separated from yours and are not allowed both to use both the terrace and the sea access.
Tao Tai renting goes usually from Saturday to Saturday with a minimum of one week, although special arrangements are however possible in some cases.
In 2005 the fare is 2200 € per week in July and August and half price (1100€) for the rest of the year. A small municipal tax and the phone bill (if significant) are on top of this fare. The rest of the conditions are quite usual and will be sent to you if you get in touch with us.
By the way, Tao Tai is a Chinese word meaning the Terrace of Tao(ism)
