Property Details

The history of the Castello has origins that go far back in time. Not until 1930 that Baron Tito Ciani Bassetti when he finds the property and realizes the potential for his dreams to come true. The renovation of the Castello allows the original beauty to be found and so begin the wine producing activities that the property seemed to be made for.

The two passions of the Baron, his beloved Castello and the good wine have been passed on to the following generations. The Castello di Roncade is the venue for the it’s namesake wine cellar. The current owner, the Baron Vincenzo Ciani Bassetti is a great ardent wine lover and an expert in the wine making.

The Bottiglia Storica/historic bottle from the Castello di Roncade vineyards is of great pride for the family.
The vines of this prized red wine were personally bought by the Baron Giovanni Ciani Bassetti, father of the current owner Vincenzo Ciani Bassetti. Recognized in all of Italy as a wine of the utmost quality, this red wine is one of the first examples of a bordolese wine here in Italy. This vintage has been classed as one of the best wines in the peninsula if not surely in all of the Veneto region. It is not by chance that for this celebrated and fine wine a silver label was designed. It is for a wine that today as in the past does not fear comparison.

The Castello of Today

The Castello di Roncade is one of the best example of rural culture found in Venetian society. Situated in a picturesque town found in the Treviso province a few minutes from the Veneto province.

Once entering you can admire a panoramic view of the Villa. A vision that inspires daydreams or visions to any who beholds it, even the most skeptic.
Gardens with manicured lawns and exotic trees that adorn the majestic gardens. To finish this masterpiece you find 30 Schiavoni statues placed at the center of the gardens that add to the air from the past. It is said that Count Guistinian hired the Schiavoni in order to protect his wife’s honor while he was way. On his return he discovered her betrayal at their hands, he asked a magician to turn them to stone. This story adds intrigue and more history to the feeling one can feel in the atmosphere.

Bed and Breakfast

The bond between the vineyard, wines and guests is not an artificial one. It began coincidentally at the end of 1988 when the Baron Vincenzo decided to open an apartment. Until then it had been used by the caretaker and his family. Baron Vincenzo used it in order to host some German clients. They enjoyed the facilities found at the Villa and the vicinity to Venice.

The Baron then took steps to begin one of the first examples of agriturism in the area. The lodging at the Castello di Roncade have been quickly transformed from the last minute rooms to house some clients into four apartments and will most likely expand to several more. The idea of obtaining and using four apartments within the two towers and using them to host guests in order to enjoy a high quality of life and culture that is found in the area came from the Baron
Vincenzo.

It may be seen as negative in defining the experience and hospitality found at the Castello di Roncade as just a Bed and Breakfast. The high quality and professionalism found at the ‘Castello’ gives and extremely comfortable setting, making even the most critical of guests feel at home. Everything has been chosen and selected with the highest level of style and elegance. At the heart of the decoration and style is the Baroness Ilaria Ciani Bassetti herself, wife of Vincenzo and mother to Claudio. Even the breakfast buffet gives the guests the perfect opportunity to taste the local culinary products.

The apartments found at this medieval sight are all equipped with modern furnishings. In winter the central heating keeps the apartments at a warm and pleasant temperature, while in summer the thick walls of the towers themselves keep the apartments naturally cool. Whichever season you select, the enchantment of the Castello will take you through a visit in time.
