Tarifa is located at the southernmost tip of Spain, between Gibraltar and Cadiz, and looks directly across the Strait of Gibraltar to the mountains of Morocco.
It is a small, authentic Spanish town with a labyrinth of narrow white streets, a very colourful fishing harbour, a castle, and miles of really unspoilt, golden beaches. It is 1 hr. 45 minutes from the airports of both Malaga and Jerez; it is 40 minutes from Gibraltar airport. it is a two hour drive to Sevilla. The Roman ruins located in the beautiful bay of Bolonia are 25 minutes away.
It is seldom too hot. It is renowned as a high wind area, much loved by wind and kite surfers. There are some excellent small restaurants, an abundance of Spanish tapa bars, and fantastic picnic spots.
Dar Cilla Guest House is unique of its sort in Tarifa. It is located on the outskirts of the old town on a no-car street within the old 12th century walls. 'Dar' is an Arabic word for a town house in which a series of suites are grouped around a central courtyard. Each suite is fully independent, but there is a pleasant air of 'sociability' and you will meet the owners and fellow guests on the roof terrace over a glass of wine. It is within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants, castle, harbour (daily fast ferry to Tangier takes 35 minutes) and the local town beach.
Guest-house Dar Cilla comprises seven exclusive apartments with the accent on charm and comfort. Quality furnishings, Moroccan 'touches', romantic bedrooms, attractive shower rooms, dining-sitting room, kitchen. It has a large roof terrace with reclining chairs for use of visitors. This has fabulous views across the old town and the busy shipping lane in the Strait of Gibraltar across the mountains of Morocco There is a (hot and cold) open shower on the terrace. Each apartment has it own entrance across the roof terrace. All have electric heating. Some have a wood burning fire for winter visitors. All apartments are fully furnished, towels (with the exception of beach towels) and bed linen provided.
Dar Cilla is a STRICTLY NO SMOKING establishment. No animals. Facilities for children are limited- children (above 12 years) in Family Maisonette - Zagora- only. Dar Cilla is for discerning travellers who appreciate style and a peaceful atmosphere; it is a very special place in the centre of Tarifa!
