The chronical says that the castle San Leolino existed already in the 11. century as one of the fortresses of the nobil family Guidi di Battifolle which controlled the most important road in Casentino an importand part of Tuscany. It still exists as a privat property 600m di altitude NNO from Florenz including a tower as a ruin in which the old cistern still exists. In 1367 San Leolino was given to the Republic of Florenz and to a son of Ugo di Battifolle named Earl Guido. It is situated 5 km above the village Londa.
This area of the Tuscany is also called the hidden Tuscany. It is known for its castellets and its good cuisine.
Londa is located at a slmall lake and th approach road to the Monte Falterone - the spring of the Arno San Leolino has three parts: the mainhouse , La Gioconda transverted from the former passanthouse with the barn, into a nice house for 5 - 6 people and one of the two towers which was also restored and is now a romantic house for 2 with a fantastic view due to his ancient duty.
The little village Londa leads 5 km on a paved and winding road to San Leolino. In Londa one gets everything necessary , like shops, banc, restaurants, pharmacy, church etc. Gasolinstation is in Contea (8km) near the station. It is possible go to old town of Florence by train from Contea (Contea-Florence 35) and to leave own car in the parking near the station.
San Leolino has a large swimmingpool (15mx6m) and peace and tranquillity at San Leolino is absolutly given.
The swimmingpool not is for guests of La Doccia.
The Castle San Leolino is the last house of the road and nobody will pass by car.
500 m in distance there is a farmer where also a telefon is and he has also some homemade good like wine, chees and oliveoil.
Around Londa in different villages there is at serveral day big market for fruits and vegetables and all other things made in Italy.

Tower San Leolino
It was one of the two ancient towers. One is still a ruin and the second is transverted to a romatic house for 2-3 people. It is separat from the mainhouse and La Gioconda about 20 meters on an little hill with a terrasse and a fantastic view due to his ancient determination. Groundfloor:

First Floor:

LA DOCCIA
This roomy natural stone house is appropriate 4 km distant from the village Londa and 300m from La Gioconda and Tower of San Leolino.
La Doccia was carefully restored in summer 2004. The house is furnished with love and taste. It is surrounded by olive trees and fruit plantations. The view of La Doccia is far and open.
In front of the house one can relax in beach chairs or in a hammock. No swimming-pool.
