Overview

Island Beach Retreat

It is a member of Seychelles Secrets, an exclusive grouping of hotels that offer guests excellent value and true unique Seychelles experience.

is unlike any other establishment on Mahe, Praslin or La Digue. Only North Island or other distant islands can offer a similar nature experience as Ile Des Palmes today. No other establishment has taken so much care to preserve Seychelles natural assets, while still preserving the comforts one needs for a relaxing holiday. While other pool-side resorts dug holes and buried the huge trees of Praslin, at Ile des Palmes they worked around them, and kept them intact. The old coconut plantation stretching for 15 acres is in fact part of a larger 175 acre estate. The one hundred year old calorifer has been converted to an art gallery to give Seychellois artists a commercial venue to express themselves.

The bungalows have all been built out of farmed timber. No old grown trees have been cut to build Ile Des Palmes. The mountain forest in the back ground is preserved as it has been for a thousand years except for one road access that gets you to the other side to Anse La Blague. No air-conditioning in the bungalows which benefit from natural air cooling.

While you rest on the veranda, the massive red granite mountains in the back drop, found only on this side of Praslin, offer you hours of amazement over the power and wonder of nature.

The bungalows are positioned directly on the beach, unlike most establishments in Seychelles, allowing guests to interact with nature from the veranda. Sharks and rays swim by. Fish feed before you. Birds visit and become friends. Flying fox bats circle around you over head each evening feeding on fruits we leave behind for the day. The ghost crabs, or even the land crabs will be sure to pay you a visit at night. Please do not eat them. Let them live for another guest to enjoy.

The sea wall built by slaves is an amazing stretch of human effort that measures almost 1000 meters and remains intact today, except for a portion that eroded in front of the family bungalows Colonial Quarters.

In the Pirates Cove, a section for couples, in one secluded area, the beach bungalows are surrounded by huge grey granite boulders, while the other section overlooks the coconut plantation and the red granite boulders of Fond Diable mountain.

This bungalow is truly an exceptional nature experience for the traveller coming to Seychelles who is an explorer at heart.

Rates are set to be the most competitive in Seychelles for this product, and intentionally so, to allow guests to explore the beauty of Praslin and the surrounding islands. This is the magic of Seychelles. Visits to Vallée De Mai (UNESCO World Heritage Site), visits to Sister Island and Cousin Island, snorkelling safari on to Anse Boudin or St. Pierre and Ile Cocos. Of course, swimming at Anse Lazio , the most beautiful beach in the World, becomes an unforgettable experience. .

Until July 2014, it was a simple self-catering establishment offering guests maximum independence because that is how Seychelles is explored best. No fixed meals, no time schedule, no agents harassing you day and night. An extremely nice restaurant seating capacity 70 guests and serving fine Seychellois and international culinary delicacies has now been added together with a nice pool and spacious wooden decking with sun loungers, as well as a comfortable lounge equipped with Wifi.

Ocean Kayaks are available for free use for all guests to explore the magical coast along the property that make Iles Des Palmes. In all, seven beaches grace this establishment, though only two have structures on them. Around the corner, you will come to Round Island and Emerald Cove that offer excellent snorkelling. If the winds are not right, on the Anse La Blague side, reef snorkelling is second to none in this area.

Transfers are possible if you do not want to rent a car or bike.

Maid service is daily and includes sheets towels, sanitary amenity service. Fruit service is available for free on a seasonal basis.

The estate is in two separate sections:

The Colonial Quarters and The Pirates Cove where all the bungalows have been recently refurbished to a high standard.

2 Beach Bungalows of 3 Bedroom (125m2), 2 rooms with double beds, 1 room with a single bed, and a large veranda. Ideal for larger families.

The Pirates Cove
This area is ideal for couples, nature lovers and honeymooners and normally does not take children.

Finished in Teak and built on stilts, they are within 4 metres of the water's edge, and some have a view of the Vallee de Mai.
This section of the establishment is named so because the well-known pirate Vasseur "La Buse" is said to have hidden a bounty near to the bungalows at Anse Badamier.
Some fascinating markings on the rocks bear witness to that belief.
