Luxury Villa Vacation Rentals (2 suites + 1BR) with private pool in Saint Jean, St Barts Island - FWI

On St. Barthélemy this villa is one of the first vacation homes of the plantation owners or planteurs from Guadaloupe who settled this little paradise.

The villa is designed for tropical living: natural ventilation, big bay windows which open wide and a hillside location caressed by the trade winds but out of range of storms and above the heat of the coast.

This villa is nestled among the flowering hills of St. Jean, just 400 yards from the beach with no close neighbors but within walking distance of la Villa Créole with its restaurants and shops.

The seascapes provided by the breathtaking 180 degree ocean view vary constantly, and the sunset provides a colorful spectacle each evening at cocktail hour, known locally as l’heure du planteur. An L shaped swimming pool just beyond the living area and the deck constructed of precious tropical woods create surroundings for the house which are both striking and practical.

The villa is organized in the spirit of the sumptuous life of the planters’ houses but with a sense of intimacy and is decorated with antique colonial furnishings.

There are two suites with their own bathrooms, a guest room, a large living room and a dining room.

On the first or ground floor you have :

- the dining room, with a large colonial round table

- the living room with sea view, normally open to the pool but possible to close

- an American kitchen also with sea view and refrigerator, freezer, microwave oven, electric stove and icemaker

- the Governor’s suite, which includes the master bedroom with two king size beds, has an en suite bathroom with toilet, a large library with writing table and a small lounge area with sofa opening to the deck and pool.

- the Paul et Virginie with twin beds 4 feet wide and a bathroom with separate toilet

On the second floor you have :

- Josephine’s suite, which is composed of two rooms and a terrace. The bedroom has a king size colonial style bed and its own bathroom with toilet.

- the siesta study, a small office with sofa and internet access (DSL), for relaxation or work

The prices include transportation from the airport upon arrival, sheets and towels, two hours of housekeeping services each weekday, water, electricity and air conditionning.

A non-reimbursable 20% deposit by credit card is required upon making the reservation.

The balance of payment should be made several days prior to arrival.

Winter = 2nd Sat of Dec/3rd Sat of Dec. & 1st Mon of Jan/2nd sat of April.
- 3 rooms = 8800 $.
- 2 rooms = 7900 $.

Peak ( Christmas and New year).
- 3rd Sat of Dec/1st Mon of Jan. = 18700 $. 2 or 3 rooms.

Summer = 2nd Sat of April/2nd Sat of Dec.

The villa latest improvments :
Pool .
Liner = new. Heather operative.
Perimeter overflow channel= redone.
‘BBQ point’.
A tiled BBQ with a big Weber gas grill is fully operative.
Rosé Corner’.
Completed, overlooking the bay with a lovely big table for outside dining in the shade of the catalpa tree. Not far from the bbq pit.
‘Planter’s HQ’.
We have replaced the armchairs and table of the Planter’s HQ, between the pool and the dining room, adding greatly the comfort of this space.
Painting.
Everything needed it has been repainted white.
New.
sheets and linens. = In place.
Refrigerator = Brand new. The old one is in the pantry if needed.
Silverware, plates and glasses = in place. High quality (Limoges etc).
Boom box, I-pod.
Paul & Virginie bedroom.
Redecorated in an elegant but lively style – not overdone.
New split-unit air conditioner installed.
Flat screen television in place. Satellite connected.
Beds: there are now two 100cm x 200cm beds. Pushed together = a king size bed.
The bedding is the same as used by top hotels: Four Seasons, Eden Rock…
The mattresses are semi-firm.
Governor’s suite:
The decoration and several pieces of furniture have been updated.
Beds: the bedding (100cm x 200 cm) fitted out – two twins or together a king as desired.
Again these are the mattresses and box springs used by the Hotel de Paris in Monaco and the George V in Paris and will be semi-soft.
We wish to emphasize the bedding, for we have made a considerable investment to be able to claim the very best beds in St Barthélemy. No one will have better.
Note that the flat screen television has been operative for a year now with US and Canal+satellite. The suite also offers DSL with Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable.
Joséphine suite:
Flat screen television in place. Satellite connected.
DSL with Wi-Fi and Ethernet cable connection is installed. This is a separate subscription from the one downstairs. With two different subscriptions we seek to provide unbroken service despite the deficiencies of Wanadoo.
Bedding: one king size bed with a top of the line ultra soft mattress.
It was not necessary to change the air conditioner of the siesta study.
Garden and car park.
The garden has filled out well and is superbly trimmed. It attracts attention and nicely frames the expansive view of the Baie de St. Jean.
All the comments of guests, whether positive or negative, are most welcome, as are their suggestions. We believe we have managed to retain the ambiance of a charming and intimate yet stylish family home under the palms.
The antique furniture and the fine quality of the decoration make the residence uniquely appropriate to the island.
We dearly love our house and want it to make our guests as happy as it does us.
