Matemwe Beach Village is situated on the north east coast, 45 minutes away from Stone Town and an hour from the airport. Matemwe Beach Village is a Zanzibari beach lodge and strives to provide authentic, stylish and comfortable accommodation, in an atmosphere of relaxed hospitality and friendliness, while ensuring efficient and effective services. Matemwe Beach Village is a place to relax, chill and unwind. With white walls and makuti roofs, the lodge blends beautifully with the white sandy beach and the turquoise ocean and pool.

As you would not want to be in your room all day, you can just relax in the chilled corners of the your suite, or on the veranda of the standard rooms or in the communal areas such as the coffee corner, the cushion lounge, the dhow lounge, the pool bar or the shady beach bandas. In this way you would also get to know other guests and the friendly staff.

You could also go diving with the professionals from One Ocean diving centre, which is Zanzibar’s premier dive operator, which is situated in the premises of the lodge. Or you could just enjoy the pool, or the warm Indian Ocean where you would see the amazing marine life if you go snorkelling. Or why not have a nice stroll on the fine white sandy beach or just hire a bike and go visit the stretch of coast line while having the warm ocean breeze on your face.

Or you can treat yourself to a relaxing massage, manicure or pedicure which can be organised.


ACCOMMODATION
There are 16 Kijiji rooms, 5 Shamba suites and 1 Asali suite.
The Kijiji rooms are simple en-suite rooms furnished in beach style with shades of neutral, blue and green. These rooms are grouped in twos or threes and only some are sea view. The kijiji rooms are a great place to stay for those who want to spend most of their time on diving and safari.
The Shamba suites are perfect for a couple or small family. The suites are funky, stylish and romantic.
The Asali suite is the ultimate romantic choice perfect for honeymooners or those wanting to celebrate their love. The suite has a private chef who will make sure that all your culinary desires are met. It also has a plunge pool for extra privacy and a beach where you will not be constantly disturbed and to make sure you would not have to leave your luxurious seclusion to have a romantic moment.
You will find that the staff has been really thoughtful in providing little extras like sunhats, beach baskets and sarongs as well as bottled water to make your stay more enjoyable as you would not have to go and look for these when required. As soon as you are settled on arrival you can just jump in your swim suits and grab your sarong and sunhats and off to the beach.

WINING & DINING
The restaurant caters breakfast which is a small selection of cereal, pastries as well as fruits in season, as well as a menu for hot breakfast. Lunch is a la carte menu and covers most peoples favourites and daily specials, and dinner is a table d’hote in the restaurant, a buffet dinner in the boma for a dinner under the stars, and once a week an ‘out of africa’ dinner served around the pool. Snacks are also available during the day.
You can enjoy seafood and non seafood as well as vegetarian cuisine and a fine selection of south African wine, Tanzanian beers and the usual spirits and mixes.
