Welcome to Kyoto, in Shugakuin on Kyoto's beautiful eastern side. Detached with two floors, The House is in a peaceful residential area of historical Kyoto.

- Very close to the foot of Mount Hiei (850m); keen walkers can enjoy hiking until their thighs can take no more.

- Two bicycles are provided for you to explore this enchanting city at your own convenience.
- Free high-speed broadband Internet access (bring your own computer)
- Plenty of information (in English) is provided in the house.
The owners live in the neighbourhood and will ensure that you have a comfortable stay in this precious part of Japan.

We can accommodate up to four people. It has its own private entrance.

Downstairs there is a well-equipped kitchen with a double gas range and grill, microwave, rice cooker, toaster, fridge freezer, tableware, glassware and linen. The kitchen table can comfortably accommodate four people for meals. The living room is a Japanese style room, with tatami mats, "kotatsu" (a low table which keeps your legs and feet warm in winter) with four chairs, television, DVD and CD players. A selection of (English and Japanese) books, DVDs and CDs is also in the living room, along with information and tips about getting around.
Also downstairs is the bathroom with a bathtub, shower, and a separate Western-style toilet (heated seat!). We provide body soap and shampoo. There is a washing machine, and we provide detergent.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms, six tatami mats each.
The bedrooms are divided by fusuma (thin sliding doors) and access to the second bedroom is through the first room. Japanese futons are laid on the tatami mats. Extra supportive matresses are provided for those who prefer softer sleeps! The house has air-conditioning and heating, and there is ample storage space for suitcases and hanging space for clothes.
Please note - no smoking and no pets are allowed.
There is no car parking.
