Montcuq is 25 km south west of Cahors. It is a pretty market village built generally of the white stone that gives the area its name - the Quercy Blanc.
Cahors is the ‘county town’ or prefecture and is itself a pretty town with the river Lot.

The cottage is on the edge of the appellation Cahors wines - wines known for their dark colour and strength.
There are caves to visit, boats for hire on the beautiful river Lot and picturesque villages and châteaux to be seen clinging to the cliffs. See too the Bastide towns perched on their hills; some were built by Richard Coeur de Lion when Aquitaine was English. Visit Moissac with its cloisters and unique tympanum.
