Less than an hour’s drive from the airport on the east coast of Zanzibar, in an area known as Kiwengwa, stands Bluebay beach resort & spa amidst its palm trees and across the white sandy beach and ocean. The Resort is on the most beautiful 30-acre site with its bedroom cottages located on rising ground overlooking the gardens, the public areas, the pool, the palm trees, beach and ocean.

The resort has 112 rooms among them 24 private club rooms, 6 garden rooms, 74 superior rooms, 6 junior suites and 2 sultan suites. Each room and suite comes with a spacious bedroom, a separate dressing room, en suite bathroom, and a verandah or balcony.

ACCOMMODATION

The Garden rooms are located behind the Junior Suites in beautifully landscaped gardens. They consist of 3 bungalows, each with 2 en suite bedrooms. Each Room is at least 45m². These being the most competitively priced rooms at the Resort means they are also near-impossible to procure for most of the year. But for location, they are as comfortable and bear the hallmarks of the luxury inclusions found in all the other room categories.....


Superior Rooms are bedroom cottages located on rising ground overlooking the gardens, public areas, the pool, the beach and ocean. Each room is approximately 50 m².

Club 24 are superb 24 rooms in an exclusion section of the 25-acre resort and offer privacy and exclusive service. All the rooms have fabulous sea view and within the private area was created a free flow pool with separate Jacuzzi as well as a cozy lounge, bar and restaurant all of which are exclusive to the 24 Club Rooms and the 8 Suites of the Resort.

Junior Suites are 3 bungalows each with 2 interconnected suites in a private area, closer to the ocean. The rooms are large and include a lounge area, an extensive external verandah and a very unique external garden shower enclosed in a private compound in the back of the room.

The Sultan Suites are the ultimate beach front accommodation. Each suite is approximately 100 m² and is positioned right on the beach in a private compound private beach. The 2 suites come with Butler service to ensure that your every need is met. Spacious verandahs, furnished in true Zanzibar style, provide the ideal location for washing away your worries and your cares while the ample rooms with their 8 feet 'Sultan size' beds enable you to experience first hand what it must have been like to be a real Sultan.

DINING & WINING
The Blue Bay Resort & Spa gives you a choice of 5 bars and restaurants.

The Makuti Restaurant which is the main dining setting serving breakfast and dinner with a magnificent view of the pool and ocean. The dinners are themed with cyclic menus with 10 different themes including Indian, Italian, Swahili, Set menu, BBQ Nyama Choma, Oriental, Trip around the world, Zanzibar, Seafood and Gala dinner night. On top of that each themed evening has its own after dinner entertainment.



The Pool Bar is the main bar and is situated by the swimming pool. It serves a wide range of wines, spirits, minerals and fresh juices as well as specialized coffee. The bar also has live band performances for most evenings.

Beach Bar & Restaurant is a romantic and informal restaurant with an impressive makuti (palm thatched) roof where you could just be toes-in-the-sand. Guests usually have cold drinks and light meals and seafood is the specialty here.

The Bahari Grill offers payable direct a la carte menu and is the best seafood and steak joint in Zanzibar. It is open during the evenings only and bookings are necessary.

Club24 Restaurant is exclusive for the club24 residents and guests of the 8 Suites at the resort. The restaurant overlooks the private swimming pool and lounge.
