This lovely 3 bedroom cottage is set on the banks of the Somme Canal where you can fish (permit required) or watch the canal boats go past. The cottage enjoys a large well planted private garden, with petanque court and spacious bedrooms, each with its own ensuite shower-room and a modern well equipped kitchen/dining room and separate living room with a small sunny terrace overlooking the communal riverbank. This famous area of France is steeped in history and there are many excellent museums in nearby Peronne and Albert. The area is famed for its wildlife and fauna including rare orchids found on the nearby Mont Frise. Climb to the top of the Mont Frise with a picnic and experience panoramic views across the Somme River and its beautiful lakes. Cyclists will enjoy the 120km of dedicated cycle route alongside the canal from Saint Quentin to Saint Valery or take a more leisurely stroll along the canal banks and see a myriad of wildlife including herons and rare butterflies. The owner can arrange a private fishing lake for a small daily charge. Nearby cities to visit include Arras with its beautiful architecture and cobbled squares, Amiens for a wander around the impressive Gothic cathedral or enjoy the restaurants and shopping in Peronne just a short drive away.
