Overview

Demeure de Charme 11 pers en Champagne

The house is a spacious 17th century stone house on two floors. From the front yard you enter directly into a wonderful large kitchen / diner. The old flagstones and massive beams make this a superb setting for evening dining and during the cooler months it's nice and cozy with an Esse wood-burning stove / stove. At the back is a well equipped kitchen with a gas hob and everything you would expect to have at home. The window opens onto a sunny terrace for alfresco dining during the warmer months. An oak spiral staircase leads to the splendid living room with old wooden floors and magnificent Burgundy fireplace with wood-burning stove.

The two double bedrooms, one on the ground floor and one on the first floor both have lovely views of the garden. The downstairs double has an en-suite shower room. Next to it is a bedroom with two single beds which is probably more suitable for children. Between the two, the toilet downstairs. Upstairs, the fourth bedroom has twin beds and a crib. A single folding bed and two travel cots are also available. The upstairs bathroom has a tub / shower and toilet. The fifth bedroom with a double bed is in the garden and was the old chicken coop! It's a lovely romantic place to get away from it all or could be a handy teenage asshole. in the nearby barn is the utility room / bathroom with shower, toilet and washing machine.

The garden is an oasis of peace with plenty of shade under the apple trees to disappear with a book or doze off in the hammock. Swings, trampoline, table tennis, bicycles and barbecue available.

The village: Dancevoir is a quiet village located in the Aube valley, with its rolling hills mostly covered with forest. The stream crosses the village (children love to fish children!) And it is pleasant to walk on the playground or further up to the Auberge where delicious Alsatian meals are served. The house is opposite the church and the peace is regularly punctuated by the chime of the hours. The village shop for basic groceries and bread and croissants is just a 5 minute walk away.

Activities: The area should become a national park for forests. There are endless possibilities for walking and cycling along quiet country roads or along forest tracks. The nearby lakes offered many opportunities for swimming and other water sports.

There is a beautiful old Pleyel grand piano upstairs in the Salon which is in good condition after being restored. It is available by agreement but remains locked. The acoustics are excellent for chamber music.

For those who wish to explore abbeys and castles, there is a lot to see. There are excellent museums nearby, including a knife museum in Nogent, La Grande Forge de Buffon (dates from 1768) and the Musée de Chatillonais in Chatillon nearby with a magnificent bronze vase. For artists, the Renoir d'Essoye museum where he spent his last years is a must. The magnificent cities of Troyes, Dijon and Beaune make for a good day out. The daily Troyes market is excellent for local food and produce.

Otherwise, taste the wines in the local vineyards where the "Crémant" (similar to champagne but much cheaper) should not be missed! For those who must have champagne, the Champagne Route is less than an hour away.
