The main house comprises of a wonderful, modern, fully equipped and open plan kitchen, leading down to a spacious and charming living area, perfect for relaxing in with a cup of refreshing lemongrass tea, while you enjoy the stunning view.

From there you can enter out onto the shaded decking area where you will find stylish loungers for you to enjoy the kaskazi (monsoon) breeze.
Leading up from the kitchen, a beautiful floating staircase takes you up to the master suite, complete with two balconies, a contemporary style bath and Zanzibari furniture, including a romantic Swahili bed.
The villa also includes three more Swahili inspired bedrooms, complete with modern en-suites and their own private decking areas – one of which is set to the side of the villa its self to allow for additional privacy.

Kandili villa is managed by a very professional and friendly management team.
Other services include a chef, daily cleaning services, laundry, bicycles, and internet and airport transfers. Customized tours and excursions can be arranged by the manager.

Matemwe is a quintessential Swahili fishing village featuring an open fish market, filled with the freshest of fish to serve up in the privacy of Kandili Villa. Its shore line is dispersed with traditional stone housing and ngalawa fishing boats bobbing in the crystal clear waters. You may even see clove farming and local women collecting seaweed along the shoreline. Matemwe is quieter a village than many in the north of the island and its people are extremely friendly and hospitable.
Nearby Mnemba Island Marine Conservation Area remains one of Africa’s most beautiful and exclusive islands. It boasts an array of butterflies, nesting turtles, Africa’s most endangered forest duiker and a spectacular variety of marine life.
