L’Abbaye is a warm holiday home, perfect for (several) families. New quarry tiles cover the ground floor, dark wooden beams criss-cross the ceiling. You have an open-plan kitchen/dining/sitting room, a small library and a big log fire in the centre. Furniture is simple country style, lamps are modern, and the huge sofa, strewn with russet throws, is inviting. Wooden stairs lead to a mezzanine with TV, one bathroom, two showers and three bedrooms; fresh white walls are lined with ski photographs, paper lampshades add a glow. These rooms share a balcony with views over the garden and to the peaks beyond. Then up more stairs to a dormitory in the eaves: a bolthole for kids.
