The house is located in the MIDI-PYRENNEES region, at the border of two departments, Aveyron and Tarn, the river Viaur just at the bottom being the border .It is a very nice rural area, still preserved, lovely countryside, a lot of hills and valleys, rivers. At the western-northern side of the Midi-Pyrennees region, the climate is not too hot yet, and the vegetation still green, so it's a great place to relax . The surname of the area is land of large spaces, because you feel you are, at last, having a good breath there!A natural landscape, looked after by farmers who stick to their traditions (go to a local feast, or to market-places . Away from commercial touristic sites and crowds. When staying at the cottage,you feel you are cut off from the world, indeed the nearest shops are 10 kms away (a lovely road though).
but the neighbours (farmers) can supply you with different products.
Nice historical places of great architectural interest (old villages and bastides, churches...)to visit (for instance Najac, Cordes, Saint-antonin, Villefranche, Albi
Nice sightseeing, such as the Gorges de l'Aveyron or the Viaur Valley.
Plus a great area for outdoor sports, like hiking, fishing,canoeing,climbing,horse-riding... Some places specialise in watersports and further, a large lake (Pareloup lake) (quick access), will offer all kinds of watersports activities , including waterskiing.
You will enjoy the food products made in the area, the quality and taste of the Charcuterie (based on meat)will surprise you.
THE HOUSE:
Stone house which has been extended to provide more space, overlooking a valley; it's right in the middle of woods, very quiet, on a steep 7000 m2 land. You will particularly enjoy the garden, nice and shady in the afternoon, sunny at breakfast time. Also the conservatory, or the fireplace in winter in the second lounge. You can relax on the terrace upstairs ,or have a walk in the valley . A sauna will provide you with more relaxation if needed! Children will love the large woody land, to play and hide, and the small inflatable swimming-pool(with pump system).(Extra deposit for the pool asked).
