South Africa Lodge Vacation Rentals Limpopo Tented Wilderness Chalets.
The Safari Conservancy “The Place of the Mountain”, is situated in the World Heritage “Waterberg Biosphere” of the Waterberg region. Approximately a three-hour drive north of Johannesburg, this 22 000ha malaria-free reserve boasts five eco-systems. The upper escarpment offers majestic craggy rock formations and wide-open grass plains. This is separated from the lower plateau by 600m high cliffs. The lower escarpment is approximately three degrees warmer and comprises sandveld vegetation and a series of wetlands.
A true African bush experience awaits you at the Camp, where the essence of the unspoilt wilderness of the Waterberg is combined with comfortable en-suite accommodation, creating a wild Africa atmosphere. The open lounge/bar area with the romantic roaring fire in the boma (sit around the open fire and drink cocktails while doing some stargazing) creates the perfect end to a relaxed day in the bush. The Camp offers a total of 20 tented chalets: 4 family tents sleeping 2 adults and 2 children.
Meals are usually in the Restaurant. The Boma is positioned close at hand for those special evening meals around the open fire. The pool area is ideal for day time meals and light lunches. Waterberry Picnic Spot and Marula Boma are the ideal venues for that special “Out in the Bush” meal experience.
The game drive wildlife experience is impressive with more than 55 mammal species (including the big five, consisting of lion, buffalo, elephant, leopard and rhino) 300 plants species and 380 bird species….not to mention the wide variety of insects, reptiles and amphibians all co-existing in five spectacular diverse eco-systems including grasslands, bushveld, mountains and river beds. Encounter the supreme wildlife of Africa with qualified rangers in our open safari game viewing.
Various guided Bush Walk options are available. The Predator Walks are undertaken by our qualified rangers in the Big 5 Safari Conservancy, Non-predator walks at the Resort and Botany Walks within the Botanical Gardens. Our trained rangers will show you a variety of animals and birds.
The Bushveld stars are magnificent and truly a must-see. Stargazing can be done in the Astro Boma with a professional speaker for children and adults or the activity can be guided by one of our qualified Rangers. Alternatively a professional Astronomer can be hired in at a nominal fee. A minimum of 20 people are required per session.
Helicopter flights: an experience beyond comparison! Get a bird’s eye view of our 22 000 ha Nature Reserve with either a 5-minute or 12-minute flight or combine an exhilarating helicopter flight with a romantic meal on a secluded mountain top and enjoy the indescribable natural beauty of the Waterberg.
Because of the 5 different ecosystems within the reserve, game viewing and bird watching are most rewarding in terms of the variety of species to be seen, identified by knowledgeable and friendly rangers. The upper escarpment is predominantly grassland dominated by the most beautiful crags, while a drive down between the cliffs, where a gurgling stream beckons, takes you to the warmer sandy wetlands of the lower escarpment.
Over and above all activities listed the resort also offers the following: Balloon Safaris, Segway Safari Tours, Bush and Birding Walks, Big 5 Game Drives, Pedi Village Tour, Wildlife Centre Tour, Water Activities, Adventure Activities.

Had a lovely weekend here with work colleagues - what a treat! We were treated like royalty by all staff from the minute we arrived, - it was really 5* all the way - they even turned down the beds before you returned from afternoon game drive! The game ranger was amazing and the game drive was memorable - really enjoyed the food - and 2 and a half hours from Johannesburg happy to go back again & again

Interesting stay, with elephants invading the lodge grounds, kudu and impala wandering around! Squeaky beds, good food and friendly staff. Game viewing was with a young ranger called Eugene. He was great. I'd stay again

Words can hardly state what an amazing experience this was. The guide was fantastic and we saw Lions, Rhino, Elephant, Giraffe, Hippo, Kudu, Wildebeest, jackal and a whole slew of "boks". The scenery and landscape was magical, a truly amazing experience! Everyone should experience an African safari in their lifetime!
