South Africa Luxury Lodge in Sabi Sand Reserve
Perched among a canopy of 100-year-old trees overlooking the Sabie River, the style of the Lodge is that of a luxurious treehouse, where the main areas link to the private suites via raised wooden walkways. The thick green foliage beneath the overhanging roof of trees has a particular sound to it.
The luxury suites each afford complete privacy, and whether you choose to spend time at your private plunge pool overlooking the River, reclining on the couch in your lounge, lazing on your bed with a good book, or soaking in a bubble bath, you will not be cheated of the breathtaking panorama.
Enjoy a spa treatment at the skilled hands of one of our therapists.
Head into the bush twice a day in the company of our professional Guides and Trackers. You’ll discover another thriving world where we are merely observers.
Game Drives
What would an extraordinary safari be without an extraordinary Guide and Tracker? In our world, nothing less will do! We select every Guide and Tracker who is entrusted to share every magical experience with you. Field Guides and Trackers work together as a team out in the bush. The Trackers are the eyes and ears, while the Guides are the navigators and interpreters. In their expert hands, guests are treated to really close encounters with Africa’s most coveted animal species. This is where you will find one of the world’s only MASTER TRACKERS.
Our Field Guides are the quintessential hosts during a drinks stop out in the bush, as the day draws to an ambient close.
Children on safari will be riveted by what there is to see and learn out in the bush. Our Guides and Trackers take their responsibility as teachers and guardians very seriously.
2 safaris take place each day – in the morning and late afternoon (moving into the early evening). This is when the wildlife is most active, and the temperature more moderate. These safaris are not confined to main roads. Our Field Guides are able to navigate through dense bush, following the tracks of animals. With a limited number of vehicles on each property, and strict criteria governing sightings, guests are able to spend extended periods of time watching wildlife in its natural habitat.
Walks
The bush takes on a completely different perspective when you are on foot. Each of your senses will be on full alert as you feel the grass and stones beneath your feet; touch the leathery leaves of trees you walk beneath; smell the musky scent of wild animals in the vicinity; taste the sweet grass of the veld; and hear the crack of a branch indicating you are not alone.
Every guest will have unique interests, and the guides are adept at playing to those interests – be they mammals, birds, flora, insects or geology.
SAFETY FIRST! Guides and trackers accompanying guests will conduct a pre-trail briefing. They will explain more about the area in which the walk will take place, and what walkers need to know. This will include how guests should walk (single file behind the guide, no lagging behind), what to do in certain instances when encountering animals on the walk, information on medical kits and handheld radios etc.) First Aid kits and handheld radios are standard equipment on walks, so that in the unlikely event of an emergency, the group has contact with the lodge and access to basic medical equipment.

The Skukuza Regional Airport re-opened to traffic in June 2014. This saw the welcome re-establishment of scheduled air services to one of the country’s most visited tourist attractions, linking to other regional hubs (and the rest of the world), coveted African safari destinations and Mozambique. This direct flight service makes for a much more cost effective, convenient and time efficient travel solution.
Airlink offers daily flights from Cape Town and Johannesburg. Flights from Durban will follow. Federal Air supplies feeder and charter services carrying passengers between Skukuza and the game lodges in the region, as well as from Skukuza to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport to feed onward scheduled flights to Livingstone in Zambia and Vilanculos in Mozambique.
Guests will be transferred from Skukuza Airport to this lodge in an open safari vehicle.
MALARIA
The Lodge is located in a low risk malaria area and we suggest you discuss this with your health practitioner before travelling.

We stayed two nights in the Lodge and it was the most spectacular place we have ever stayed! The suites are beautiful, with a huge terrace and plunge pool, bathtub overlooking the river and outdoor shower. It was a perfect place to relax between the game drives. Watching animals from our terrace was surreal, but amazing. Our room was room 2 which we reached by a canopy walkway, which made us feel that we were really in the think of it. In terms of the safari drives, our guide David and tracker Chris was great and we saw some amazing scenes - from lions hunting to a herd of elephant pass right next to our vehicle. The lodge also put on breakfasts in the bush and sundowners on each evening game drive, which was a little luxury! All the staff were wonderful - Darren keeping the monkeys away, laughs and chats with Lorette over drinks and Adam putting on a special dinner on our last night. Thank you to everyone! This was our first safari and we expected it to be incredible, but it went even beyond that! We would come back in a heartbeat!

South Africa. lodge delivers both without compromising on comfort, elegance and grace. Minutes from landing at Skukuza airport you are embraced by the warmth and hospitality of the lodge. The staff cant seem to do enough for you. Eugene and his team and on top of every tiny detail. The rooms are absolutely stunning and lack for nothing. Once again the attention to details is staggering. There was not one thing I would change in that room. The food was absolutely over the top fantastic. Best lodge food I have had anywhere in South Africa. Game drives were fun and informative. And even though we were in the rain on every drive Riaan still made it fun and exciting for us. I highly recommend this Lodge to anyone contemplating a safari in South Africa.

The housekeepers at this property got a big tip from me. They give you a chalkboard to be able to chat to them and I asked for a favour while we were at our safari and I asked for them to run a bath and not only did they run an amazing bath tub they laced it with beautiful local greenery and a local liquer!! Wow it was a wonderful end to a wonderful day. I love that from the restaurant they had a cool family of hippos eating below and from our room your could see some very cool wildlife even from there. These guys could not have done more for us!! And they were all about the special touches!!
