Matemwe Boutique Hotel

The Boutique Hotel is situated in the village of Matemwe, in the North East, which is one and a half hour’s drive from the airport. The boutique hotel is situated on a cliff from where you can have a splendid view of the ocean and Mnemba Atoll coral reef in complete privacy. Kasha boutique hotel consists of 11 luxurious Swahili-Arabic styled villas.

Each villa has a private outside lounge, splash pool and the magnificent view of the ocean with only the sounds of the wind and waves to take away your everyday stress. During low tide, you can go directly onto the beach by going down the stairs that would lead you and during high tide you can dive or jump in the sea from a wood plank.


You can also dive in the infinity pool which is high above the beach, from where you can have a splendid view of the ocean and admire the dhows that seem to glide on the ocean and the white foam that the waves make when they crash into the reefs. Or why not have a personal yoga session or deep breathing by the pool side in the early morning. Nothing better to start the day.

Then you can move on to the restaurants to have a nice meal. The Sama restaurant has a team who serves dishes with the finest spices and catches of the day and to pair it up with a fine selection of wines. The chefs strongly believe in supporting local markets, so all the ingredients to the marmalades are local. You can also choose to sip a nice cocktail by the Nargili Bar.

The chefs will also have the pleasure of preparing tasteful, romantic moonrise dinners either at your villa, by the pool or on the special dining deck overlooking the ocean

The villas are named after local spices: Karafuu(clove), Tangawizi(ginger), Vanila(vanilla), Bizari(curry), Zafarani(saffron), Giligilani(coriander), Mdalasini(cinnamon), Hiliki(cardamom), Pilipili(chilli), Uzile(cumin), Kungamaanga(nutmeg)

Each spacious villa is luxuriously furnished and tastefully furnished. Each room has classic tiles depicting the typical Swahili style house found in Stone Town. The calm colours and elegant furniture offers a serene experience ideal for holiday makers who seek tranquillity. Every villa has a splash pool and a Baraza(Arabic for relaxing seating areas) outside lounge perfect for a romantic moment with amazing view on the ocean.

ACTIVITIES
With Mnemba Island being one of the best diving and snorkelling spots in the Indian Ocean, you can swim with bottlenose dolphins and famous green sea turtles or spot whale sharks making their way to the south or admire the vast marine life in the reefs.

You can also have long strolls or go cycling along the 15km of white sandy beach during low tide. Or you could go fishing using small local dhow- a nice way to experience local lifestyle.
